The new place.

Looks like we are moving after all. Our current place just isn’t working out. We have found a new place that is a little further off the beaten path. All in preperation for eventually paying all of our debt and buying a house down the line. And yes… I do mean all of our debt.

Theoretically we may be able to get out of credit card debt by the end of the year. That would be nice.

Obviously I am back from NY, just working away.

I got some nice shots of the sunset from my hotel room, the sun has kind of a doubled effect since it is through panes of glass.

Lots of financial chaos and things in general have been unstable, if only because of the economy messing up. We may have to move again because our apartment complex is raising our rent substantially. It used to be that places that rent apartments tried to keep people in place as consistent customers. This isn’t the case any more as I have never had my rent stay the same or be lower than it was the year before.

This article on Dvice points out that even the government thinks that robots could be a disruptive technology. Basically, this means that they consider them a potential threat and that they should be watched out for.

The report sited various countries as leaders in development of this tech, Japan being the foremost. (From what I understand.)

Not that that is a shock. I mean really….

When I originally joined gmail it was basically a finished product. Despite the fact that it was beta it was an effective working tool. Google Chrome isn’t anywhere near to the level that Gmail was.

I will say that it was fast when I was using it, although it really didn’t agree with the sharepoint server I use at work. However, the fact that it doesn’t even support the oh so popular Google Toolbar is astounding. Toolbar is one of Googles most popular products. Why wouldn’t they make it work with their new entry into the browsing field? I know that they potentially feel that they should make the browser with the features integrated. That would be fine, except they didn’t do it.

At this point, I wouldn’t reccomend that anyone use it. They just didn’t give Chome enough… polish… to make it worth fighting with.

On a side note, I was able to get my new glasses ordered today.

The doctor said that I should “bag the whole week” and gave me a doctors note so that I can take the rest of the week off.

After getting the hotel to let me stay for one night I was given a room on the 57th floor. This is a great view. Directly across from me is another hotel with the lights of times square reflecting off of it’s windows.

When I look out to the right I have a view of Manhattan and a river. (Not sure which one. Pics forthcoming)

To my left and looking down I have a view of more of Times Square. A bigger den of scum and villainy blah, blah, blah.

The 4th of July is coming up. I am looking forward to being in the city for it. The fireworks are always spectacular on TV and I am sure that they will be live as well. (We’ll do it live!)

I just ordered room service and they have pepsi products but no Mountain Dew, and no Coke products so I cannot have a Coke instead…. :: Sigh :: The guy is going to see if he can find me a Coke though.

There is a big building with a sign across the way that says “McGraw-Hill.” I wonder if it is the same company that makes so many of the text books that I have used over the years.

There is a balloon floating up off in the distance. There must be a gnarly downdraft because it just dropped about 500 feet in 2 seconds.
