I had made this post on my LJ back when Bush was elected. I had really hoped that this country would be able to see that he was not the person to leave in charge. There was quite a bit of discussion about morals and how shallow I was for wanting a president who had a better public face than Bush.
Well, I am glad to see that those other people were so on top of the game! I mean, look at how well the country is being run under the current administration! We have fewer rights, people are allegedly being tortured in Iraq, there are so many soldiers being killed in Iraq that they are stacking the coffins like crates in cargo planes, and of course, the fact that our president has to ask for permission from his staff to go to the bathroom!
In the mean time, we have major disasters in the US and NOTHING happens! It takes days for us to respond to the emergencies and then the help that is provided is lacking at best.
Another thing to note, is that if more focus was placed on internal issues the economy may be better and nearly 30,000 people wouldn’t have lost their jobs in the mid west. Perhaps some of these things wouldn’t have happened if more focus was placed on the HOMELAND part of Homeland Security.
Oh, but Bush has “Morals” which is far more important than having clear and authoritative control over the country. Perhaps if he was able to speak more clearly he would have been able to avoid having to send the troops over in the first place!
When I found out that Bush was elected the first time, I was sitting in a break room at work. I looked over a co-worker and said “I guarantee you that within 1 year we will be at war with Iraq.” If nothing else, I am glad to see that Bush just continues to live up to my expectations.
In relation to the abortion issue that was mentioned in my original post back then, I have no opinion in general. I feel that abortion is largely a topic that concerns females and I don’t have much input. I do feel that if a couple or single adult doesn’t have the resources to raise a child properly, they shouldn’t have the child. If they give it away for adoption or have an abortion it is their choice. I just don’t feel the we need more children raised in squalor or to couples who were never prepared to have the child in the first place.
 /end rant.
